The commission will publish the profiles on its website and distribute printed copies to every union parishad office in the metropolitan area within 10 days of nomination acceptance.
Local residents who rely on ward councilors for garbage collection and street lighting will see the direct effect first. A profile from a candidate in Ward 23, for example, must state exact plans for clearing blocked drains before the monsoon season and name the budget line items the candidate intends to pursue in the city corporation allocation.
Next steps for implementation
The Election Commission has set a September 30 deadline for all candidates to complete digital uploads of their profiles. Commission staff will verify the statements against existing city corporation budget documents before public release. Residents can request paper copies at any of the 90 designated collection points listed on the commission website starting October 5.
Policy analysts at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies note that the guidelines also require candidates to list any past city corporation contracts they or their immediate family members have held. This clause covers the 2022-2025 fiscal period and applies uniformly across all 129 wards.
