Fiber-to-the-home service now reaches many Dhaka neighborhoods through providers including DFN Internet, InfoLink and Smile Broadband. Plans delivering 20 to 50 Mbps cost between Tk 800 and Tk 1,500 per month, or roughly $8 to $15. Families use the connections for children's online classes in the evening, while small traders check inventory apps during the day. Mobile networks still drop up to 40 percent in speed during peak hours and sometimes fall back from 4G to 2G, pushing people toward fixed broadband when they need reliable links for banking or media work.

After the 2024 blackout, authorities restored service first in areas serving banks, technology companies and media outlets. That priority list showed how quickly connectivity gaps affect essential services and prompted more households to sign up for their own fiber lines once power returned.
