Lap Swimming Pools Dhaka: Outdoor & Rock Pools

The lap swimming lanes at the Gulshan Lake Park outdoor pool opened at 6 a.m. on 10 July 2026 to handle early crowds seeking 50-metre stretches before the temperature climbed past 34 degrees.

City officials expanded wellness access last year through the Dhaka North City Corporation fitness drive that added shaded changing areas and extended hours at several neighbourhood water spots, drawing office workers and students who previously relied on indoor gyms.

Two established locations

Swimmers now gather daily at the rock pool edge of Dhanmondi Lake along Road 5, where the Dhanmondi Welfare Society maintains a 30-metre circuit of natural stone basins cleared for continuous laps each morning. A second site sits inside Suhrawardy Udyan near Shahbagh, where the 50-metre lap pool was resurfaced last March with lane markers and safety buoys funded by the parks department.

Both locations operate under the same weekday schedule from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with separate family sessions on weekends.

Usage figures and costs

Park records show an average 150 swimmers pass through the Gulshan and Dhanmondi sites each weekday, up from 90 in 2024, while adult entry remains fixed at 100 taka and monthly passes cost 1,200 taka through the city corporation desk at Nagar Bhaban. The upgrades completed in March 2025 included new filtration units that keep water clarity within national health standards.

Visitors should confirm current water quality reports posted at the entrance gates or call the parks hotline before arriving, and bring their own kickboards since rental gear is limited to basic towels at both sites.
