Three Dhaka events open this weekend with entry prices set between zero and 1,200 taka, each requiring advance checks on gates, ID rules and nearby parking.
Global tensions have pushed more residents to seek weekend plans inside the city rather than travel, keeping local venues busy even as fuel prices stay high. Organisers at two central sites report steady ticket sales since last month, when a similar lineup drew 4,800 visitors over two days.
The weekend programme starts on Friday evening at the Liberation War Museum in Segunbagicha with a free photography display open from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visitors reach the site via Shahbagh Road and must pass a bag check at the main gate. On Saturday the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha hosts a ticketed music evening priced at 800 taka, running from 7 pm until 11 pm with gates closing at 8 pm. Sunday brings a craft market at Hatirjheel Lake in Rampura, free entry but with 200 taka charged for reserved seating near the water stage.
Shilpakala Academy tickets went on sale last week through the academy counter and selected bKash outlets at 800 taka for adults and 400 taka for students showing valid cards. The Liberation War Museum display needs no ticket yet limits bags larger than a small backpack. Hatirjheel market organisers set up extra buses from Farmgate and Malibagh starting at 10 am on Sunday, cutting the usual 45-minute ride to 25 minutes. Last year the same market recorded 3,200 daily visitors, according to the Dhaka North City Corporation report released in May.
Police at all three sites require national ID or passport copies for entry after 7 pm, following new guidelines issued last month. Visitors should carry water because only the Shilpakala venue sells refreshments inside. Parking near Segunbagicha fills by 6 pm on weekends, so most attendees use ride-hailing apps or the metro to Shahbagh station then walk five minutes. The craft market ends at 8 pm, after which the lake area clears quickly for safety. Those planning to attend multiple events can buy a combined pass for 1,200 taka at the Shilpakala counter until Friday afternoon.
Check the official pages of each venue the night before for any last-minute gate changes, and allow extra travel time around rush hour on Friday and Saturday evenings.
